An Improper Proposal by Patricia Cabot

An Improper Proposal by Patricia Cabot

If I must choose one word to describe this book, I will pick “sweet”. It is overly sweet. It have many *beep* scene that not overly vague and just perfect to support your imagination.
This is the second book I’ve read from Patricia Cabot. The first book I’ve read is “Lady of Skye”. An Improper Proposal is a story of a girl who loved his father employee. She have many ability that make a seaman jealous. In a day, the man she loved is engaged to another woman, and the ship she thought will be her present for her 19th birthday (because her brother got a ship for their 19th birthday too) is given for their wedding present.
It is the end for the miserable part, from that point, the plot is getting sweeter for her. Firstly she got the man she loved, and then the ship she wanted. The end.

Personally, after knowing the fact that it is a happy ending story, I still believe that the way Patricia Cabot written the story is enjoyable.

The False Prince

Author : Jennifer A. Nielsen

So I got this book a long time ago, certainly it has been few weeks passed by before I actually read this book. The main reasons is because it’s cover that not appetizing at all. It so simple, by having blue in the background and there was a broken yellow crown as the main object. I just happen to stumble upon it and decided to take a look inside. When I read the first few page, I begin to be fascinated. You will find a boy whom being chased by a mad butcher because he stole a roasted chicken which taken again from him. So actually he got nothing at all. After that event he got ‘kidnapped’ by a noble whom trying to seize the throne by installing this particular boy to be his crown prince and finally this noble will be his regent.

That was an impossible plan from the start, but as the page goes by, it starts to make sense. This boy (and in fact there was few more boys) start their learning to be a suitable fake prince in just two weeks. They were taught about swordsmanship, education, and manner. The ‘real’ prince is dead in the matter of speaking. He is being sent to study abroad by his father, the king. But when his ship is attacked by the pirate, all of the member of the crew is killed in place. The search for the prince body is fruitless.

Back in time, although the news haven’t spread, the king is actually dead at the moment, and so is the crown prince, the first prince, and the queen. So come this crazy plan to fake the second prince, which was assumed as being dead.

As the story go on until finish. This was a good book that make you want to know what happen next. But it’s not the first book I read having that twist, actually I would recommended to you to having The Thief by Megan Whalen Turner. Maybe sometime I would write it down here. Because I read The Thief a long time ago, and I have forgot what’s in the detail and what was my feeling when I read it.

So good day. Have a nice weekend.
Note : recently (just a few hours ago) I have read the sequel of this book called the Runaway King. I will cover it later >.<
